It is your basic racing game, except with airplanes. You can collect power-ups like shields, missiles and mines to try and shoot down your 8 rivals. You also have a machine gun in every race. It has unlimited ammo, but it can only be used for about 5 seconds at a time before it has to recharge for a couple seconds. Each race has 6 sub-quests that unlock Boost Highways (series of rings that give you a speed boost when you fly through them) or extra power-up slots, you start with one, but can get 2 more. These usually include: Collect something(varies to match the track's theme), pick up at point A and deliver to point B, shoot the targets(also vary)and others that are unique to each track. The game’s difficulty is medium to hard. The game’s main mode, Adventure takes you through a series of races and minigames with well-done cutscenes in there to keep each character’s unique story moving along. On with the ratings.

The graphics in this game are what you would expect from any next-gen console. The colors are bright and attractive and look nice. However, there is nothing that will blow you away either. Just average.

The music in the game is also just so-so. The main theme song is very catchy, and so are a few others during the game. But for the most part, you don’t usually notice the music during the races. There is a stereotypical announcer voice through the game that, well, announces things. Each character has a set of things to say during the race like “You shot me” and “For that you must pay” and these can get a little annoying and repetitive.

Here is where the game has the most flaws. First off, the version has 2 discs, I can’t imagine why, it’s not a very big game. There have been games much longer than this with way better graphics all crammed onto one. My biggest complaint is the loading times. I thought my game had frozen it was taking so long. Load times of upwards of 25 seconds are not out of the question. This may not seem like long, but when you are playing, it gets VERY annoying. Since the game is fairly difficult, and you have to get 2nd or better to win you will have to restart a lot. It has to reload after EVERY race. That is my biggest gripe. There is NO EXCUSE for load times that long with its power. Controls are pretty simple: R is gas, A is machine gun, and X is use power-up. B lets you aim at people behind you but I never used it in the pc games. Y does a “stunt” which has no purpose at all, other than slowing you down. Holding L while going up, down, left, or right will make it a steeper dive or turn.
